Development Ministry Mission Statement

Presentation Sisters’ Development ministry is missioned to present and represent the mission and ministries of the Presentation Sisters. This office implements the development agenda of the President and Leadership Council collaborating with the Sisters, Team Directors, lay advisors and volunteers. boys in africaSister Virginia McCall has been serving in Kaoma, Zambia, Africa since 2007.  She works with clients, many of whom are victims of HIV/AIDS, of Regina House Home Based Care, a faith-based organization under the auspices of the Catholic Diocese of Mongu in Zambia. Sister Virginia initiated the Kaoma Sustainability Project which was developed and continues to build on the expressed need of the people in the area. This Project is helping alleviate the root causes of poverty by teaching people to help themselves and become self-sustainable through various forms of education.

Kaoma Sustainability Projects include:
Fishing Project
Farming Project
Sewing Projectoxen farming
Education Project
Redmond Loan Fund

Needs of the Kaoma Sustainability Project:
Oxen – chickens – fish
Medical care of animals
Feed and supplies for animals
Seed and fertilizer for crops
Equipment for planting of crops (plows, rippers, hoes, rakes, etc)
E
ducational scholarships for all levels of schooling
Funding for agricultural, business and food security workshops.

Donor Profile

Irene CordtsIrene, who celebrated her 100th Birthday in June, has known the Presentation Sisters for over 80 years. Her love and friendship with the Sisters began at Notre Dame High School in Mitchell, SD, where Irene attended her junior and senior year of high school, graduating in 1929. The fond memories and continued relationship with the Sisters has stayed strong throughout the years.

Irene has supported many of the Presentation Sisters’ ministries, with a special interest in our work with Native Americans, foreign mission and our sponsored ministry, Presentation College.
