Missionary:
We are an apostolic order of sisters. What
this means is that, as Presentation Sisters, we respond where
we see a need. Our mission statements says: "We are willing
go forth to any part of the world to work for justice, alleviating
oppression and promoting human dignity, especially among the
poor.” Our foundress, Nano Nagle said she would “go
anywhere in the world to save souls.” From Aberdeen
to Bolivia, from Eagle Butte to Mexico, from Sioux Falls to
Guatemala, from teaching catechism to meeting people’s
basic needs, we have provided active, responsive leadership.
We have established and built schools and hospitals in the
U.S. and beyond to meet pressing needs. Most recently, we
had sisters serving at two missions outside the U.S., in Bolivia
and Guatemala.
In December 2005 convent employees, friends
and sisters pooled their resources and donated money for Sister
Myra to purchase several cows in Bolivia.
