Teddy Bear Donations

Presentation Sisters Day at Wild Water West Park in Sioux Falls requested all attendees bring a new teddy bear to the park on August 11, 2016 and receive over 50% off on admission! Teddy Bears will be given, as a sign of love, to children served in the ministries of the Sisters.

L.I.V.E Camp 2016

The Presentations Sisters’ Leading Individuals Voicing Equality Camp is specifically designed to foster the self-confidence and self-esteem of young Latinas from the greater Omaha metro area. Held at the Creighton Retreat Center outside of Griswold, IA, L.I.V.E. develops the leadership skills and nurtures the faith of Junior high Latinas through songs, crafts, skits and a challenge course.

Cinco de Mayo is a family event that brings together the business and civic community of Sioux Falls and the surrounding area to recognize, appreciate and celebrate the cultural gifts and heritage of the Latino people in our midst. While observing this traditional Mexican holiday, Cinco de Mayo in Sioux Falls creates awareness of and develops pride in the diverse Latino cultures that make up our community. Latino food, dance, art, music, children’s activities and more make this a festive and fun family day. It is a benefit for the ministries of the Presentation Sisters at Caminando Juntos.

Busy Person Retreat 2016

The Presentation Sisters held a Busy Person Retreat at the Convent for students and staff at Presentation College. Spiritual guides this year were Sisters Janet Schumacher ad Phyllis Gill.

Kids Against Hunger 2015

285, 326 Kids Against Hunger meals are packed and on the way to Zambia, Africa! Thank you to Soukup Construction and the O’Gorman students who helped the Sisters and Kids Against Hunger Sioux Falls load the truck.

Sisters Myra Remily and JoAnn Sturzl once again witnessed for peace at the gates of Fort Benning, in Columbus, GA In November 2015 to close the School of the Americas (SOA), a combat training school for Latin American soldiers.

Golf Tournament 2015

Thank you to our major sponsors, Avera Health, EideBailly, KyburzCarlson Construction, Northern Valley Communications and the 60 women who joined us on Monday, June 15 at our 20th anniversary tournament . It was a successful day filled with sunshine, golf and lots of laughter and fun! It was wonderful to be able to honor the golfers who have participated in our tournament for over 15 years. The tournament wouldn't be possible without the support of the many women who participate each year. The Presentation Sisters appreciate their kindness and generosity.

African Meals & Stuffed Animals Arrive

Presentation College and Roncalli High School students donated time and energy to load a truck headed to Zambia, Africa with 285,120 Kids Against Hunger meals and over 300 stuffed animals for the children! Items will be distributed to two of the Sisters' ministries in Kaoma and Kalomo, Africa!

SOA Watch 2014

Journey to Justice Reflections - Sisters Myra Remily and JoAnn Sturzl once again witnessed for peace at the gates of Fort Benning, in Columbus, GA November 21 – 23 to close the School of the Americas (SOA), a combat training school for Latin American soldiers. Sisters traveled by bus from Minneapolis to Atlanta.

Kids Against Hunger

The Aberdeen Presentation Sisters continue to help feed thousands of people in Africa. During the month of November, 285,120 Kids Against Hunger meals were prepared, packed and shipped to the Sisters’ sponsored ministries in the Zambian villages of Kalomo and Kaoma where individuals struggle with hunger every day. Kids Against Hunger and the Presentation Sisters partnered to help feed these communities who are especially poor.

Traditional Pow Wow

On Saturday, June 7, 2014, the Cheyenne River Kateri Circle of Eagle Butte, South Dakota, held a traditional pow-wow for the community. The ceremony honored Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, the daughter of a Mohawk warrior, who became the first Native American to be canonized as a Saint by the Catholic Church. She is the Patron Saint of the Environment. During the pow-wow, the Aberdeen Presentation Sisters were honored for their 34 years of service and education through Presentation College at the Eagle Butte campus.

Busy Person Retreat

During National Catholic Schools week, Sister Joan Marie Brandner organized another Busy Person Retreat, so Presentation College students and staff members could reflect on the presence of God in their lives without missing a beat in their daily routine.

Table of Plenty

The Presentation Sisters and their staff along with Presentation College students and staff hosted and provided the Table of Plenty meal this month. Table of Plenty is a community meal served at Zion Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, SD from 5:30- 7:00 pm the 4th Monday of each month. Guests were greeted and made welcomed by sisters and students prior to being seated and served by other Presentation volunteers who have provided the meal for the evening. The goal of the project is to provide a welcoming atmosphere for those who hunger for food, fun or fellowship. Everyone is welcome at this no cost meal. SD Pax Christi Conference 2013

During the ninth annual South Dakota Pax Christi Conference in Watertown this year, the attendees not only celebrated the tenth anniversary of the Sioux Falls founding chapter, but also honored Sisters Kay and Michelle Meyers for all the work they have done to promote the gospel message of peace. The Southeastern South Dakota Pax Christi group presented Sisters Kay and Michelle with a corsage and a well-decorated cake to celebrate the occasion.

Women on the Prairie Conference 2013

The Presentation Sisters Women on the Prairie Conference was held on September 28, 2013 with the theme, Embrace the Marvelous in Every Day. We welcomed Amy Dee-Kristensen, author and motivational speaker from Mitchell, SD. She presented a wonderful message to 88 women, many of whom commented on how much they enjoyed her and her light-hearted message.

In the past 17 years over 1,000 7th, 8th and 9th grade girls have attended the Presentation Sisters Leadership Camp. Held at Storm Mountain in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota, Leadership Camp provides young Christian women with a positive, faith-filled, supportive environment in which they can maturity physically, emotionally and spiritually while having fun and meeting new people.

Live Out Loud Camp was held at the the beautiful Broom Tree Retreat Center located in Irene, South Dakota June 5-7, 2013. Participation from young women ages 15-19 included an inspirational speaker, service activities, prayer and reflection and sharing, which allowed many opportunitiesto deepen their faith.

SD Pax Christi Conference 2012

Sister Helen Prejean, a member of the Congregation of St. Joseph, was the keynote speaker at the eighth annual South Dakota Pax Christi Peace Conference. The event was held September 22, 2012, in Watertown, S.D.

Called to Serve

Called to Serve invites participants to learn more about the Sisters\' ministries and joyfully serve alongside them. On August 5-7, six young women participated in a retreat of prayer, reflection, sharing and service experience.

Aberdeen Area Hispanic Outreach Ministry

Aberdeen Area Hispanic Outreach Ministry responds to the needs of newer Latino immigrants as they make a home in Aberdeen and the northeast region of South Dakota.

Kaoma

Presentation Sisters from England, India, Ireland, New Zealand, United States and Zambia work with the people of the Western Province of Zambia and assist them in creating a better life for themselves and their families.

Kalomo

Presentation Sisters from Ireland, India, New Zealand, Zambia and the United States serve in five missions in Zambia including Kalomo in the Southern Province.

Lantern Light

After Hurricane Katrina, Presentation Sisters from various North American congregations partnered together to serve the homeless and underserved of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Clinica San Jose

Clínica San José, located in Concepcion Tutuapa, San Marcos, Guatemala, Central America, is a joint mission of the Presentation Sisters of Aberdeen, SD and San Francisco, CA., and provides affordable health care to the 68,000 Mayan-Mam inhabitants.

Caminando Juntos

Caminando Juntos is an outreach ministry sponsored by the Aberdeen Presentation Sisters that “welcomes the stranger” within the Latino population in the Sioux Falls, SD area.

Parish Visits

Several Presentation Sisters visited parishes where they had schools. It was an opportunity for them to renew friendships and thank people for their support of the sisters and the school.

Presentation Formators in the Philippines

Presentation Sisters from 11 countries, who mentor new members around the world, gathered in the Philippines from Pakistan, India, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and USA, who were all Nano’s daughters.

The Presentation Sisters of Aberdeen celebrated 125 years of Apostolic religious Life on Saturday, July 16, 2011.

Diocesan Day July 15, 2011

A day of celebration for religious communities, priests and deacons of the Sioux Falls Diocese, and other special guests. Mass was in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel with the Most Reverend Bishop Paul J. Swain.

L.I.V.E. Leadership Camp 2011

The Creighton Retreat Center near Griswold, Iowa is the location for L.I.V.E. camp every year. The Presentation Sisters support this camp and offer assistance and experience from the Black Hills camp to young Hispanic women in the region.

Live Out Live Camp

A leadership retreat for high school girls to experience an opportunity to deepen their faith. The L.O.L. retreat was held at Presentation Convent, and included guest speaker Amy Novak of Dakota Wesleyan University and a trip to Story Book Land.

Women\'s Retreat

The Presentation Sisters Women’s Retreats entitled, “A Journey to Your Spiritual Center,” were held March 26 & 27, 2011 in Sioux Falls and Aberdeen.

Wind Turbine Installation at Convent

The Presentation Sisters are continuing their evironmental efforts and have raised an 80-foot wind turbine on their property. This power generated by this turbine, combined with the solar panels on the convent roof, should offset up to 15% of the main building.
