Etty Hillesum in An Interrupted Life says “Ultimately, we have just one moral duty: to reclaim large areas of peace in ourselves, more and more peace and to reflect it towards others. And the more peace there is in us, the more peace there will be in our troubled world.

Each year the International Day of Peace (IDP) is observed around the world on September 21. This year’s theme is Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the #GlobalGoals. It is a call to action that recognizes our individual and collective responsibility to foster peace. Fostering peace contributes to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  The International Presentation Association works collaboratively with other groups to realize our priority SDG’s. Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals will create a culture of peace for all. Please join the Presentation Sisters and others around the world at Noon local time to observe a minute of silence and to then pray for peace.

Dear God, bless me with inner peace. The kind of peace that allows me to feel anger at injustice, oppression, exploitation of people and the earth, so that I may strive for justice, equity, and peace for all. Bless me with tears to shed for those that suffer, so that I may reach out my hands to comfort them and change their pain into joy. And, Lord bless me with foolishness to think that I can make a difference in the world, so that I will begin to do the things that others say cannot be done. Amen
