Second Sunday of Lent
Then God said:
“Take your son Isaac, your only one, whom you love, and go the land of Moriah. There you shall offer him up as a holocaust on a height that I will point out to you.”
In today’s reading the Lord puts Abraham to the test. He tells Abraham to offer up his only son (sound familiar?) and when Abraham was about to slaughter his only son the Lord stops him from harming his son.
I am in awe by the obedience of Abraham. To have such faith and courage shows Abraham had truly given himself to our Lord through obedience and trust. To love the Lord more than yourself is something we all need to strive for, I know I do. I wonder if I would be able to do the same as Abraham if I were put to the test.
Loving God, you put us to the test in various ways. Help us to choose your way when we would rather do things our way. We ask this in the name of your only son, Jesus. Amen.
